Sri Lanka Tea Regions
Depending on elevation above the sea level of the tea plantation, teas produced there are classified into one of the three categories:
– Low Grown
– Mid Grown
– High Grown
There are seven principal tea producing agro-climatic regions in Sri Lanka:
- Nuwara Eliya – Western High Grown
- Uda Pussellawa – Uva High Grown
- Dimbula- Western High Grown
- Uva – Uva High Grown
- Kandy – Mid Grown
- Sabaragamuwa – Low Grown
- Ruhuna – Low Grown
